Sloths

Sloths are known as the world’s slowest land animals.  They spend about 80% of their time sleeping.  Their color and their ability to remain motionless for hours protects them from predators.  Their slow metabolism allow them to survive on a low energy diet of leaves. 

One of their favorite leaves are those of the Cecropia tree.  They are often spotted in these trees because these trees have open branches.  This makes them the most likely canopy mammal you will see in the rainforest.
